I really hope my car is running in time for this. I'll just be waiting on a torque arm now that I figured out what I did wrong on the U-joint.

I've noticed my car sounds like it has a small exhaust leak. Is it something I need to look into before I get it tuned or you guys think it'll be ok? I don't know for sure if it's an exhaust leak or what. It seems to do it only under load, but sounds like an exhaust leak. Any ideas of the best way to check for one?

Roll up a couple shop rag like a cinnamon roll and shove it up the tail pipe to plug the outlet. Start the car and let it idle, you'll be able to hear exh coming out of any leakey area. If it's not too bad, I can work around it.

sxracerb25
03-24-2010, 05:42 PM
Ok thanks. I'll try that and see what I find out.

Edit: I tightened up all my band clamps and stuff and seems like its mostly gone. I used the rag method and it almost seems like my headers are leaking on the driverside a little bit. We just put them on so I'm going to look into it more tomorrow or Friday and maybe try to re-torque them some and make sure its all good.

Mine's an 02 TA, stock. Do you think that I would benefit from "Tune Day?"

I don't care about bad weather, it makes agressive datalogging a little hard but still do-able.

I hate to needlessly add comments. but questions have been asked so here goes:

Here is a list of what I can do :

Change VIN
Remove VATS
Change RPM or speed limiters
Speed calibration for axle ratio or tire changes
POWER TUNE = spark timing and fuel maps customized for maximum performance
High or low octane programming
Lower fan turn-on temp settings
Modify shift curves for performance or towing
Modify shift pressures for firmer shifts, from mild to extreme
Modify TCC lockup speeds for performance or towing
Optimize transmission controls for high stall TC
Switch automatic to manual or vice versa
Compensate for displacement changes
Adjust for bigger fuel injectors
Adjust for larger throttle body
Compensate for cam changes for driveability and power
Delete emission functions and codes (EGR, AIR pump, CCP, O2s, etc.)
Program for MAFless operation = speed density mode
Delete various nuisances (SKIP SHIFT, traction control ,etc.)
Remove or add torque management
Delete other miscellaneous functions and trouble codes (A/C, oil level, etc.)
Nitrous, forced induction and more...

The weather channel says 61 and 0% chance of rain now. Hope that holds up.

Weather channel online says 30%. Not too bad. Just gotta keep hoping

If the Walmart parking lot doesn't work let me know and you can possibly do it at my place. I just need to do some cleaning. I'm at 31st south and Greenwich, Anthony knows the place. Also I might be able to get use of the Windshield shop on east harry which has two bays.

It's actually 3033 S. Greenwich but that should be close enough. Only house on the west side of Greenwich with a large shop, Stone house with pine trees.

Greenwich is also one way traffic North bound only from Pawnee to Kellogg right now so use Webb to Pawnee and east 1 mile to Greenwich and 3/4 mile south on Greenwich.

Also anyone wanting to get registered for the True Street Shootout event can do it for only $40 while your here.

He said he'd get it in the am.
Thx also John.

BTW. I got to bed a 12:30am and back up at 7:30. Tuned till 9PM Sunday in Lebo and Emporia, ran out of time and got to my house at 10:30pm. Had to ask a couple guys to schedule tune time at my house later.

Had a blast tuning/driving the '09 Pontiac G8 (6-speed automatic) and the 2010 Camaro is a blast to drive (CAI and cat-back). Sure is tougher to work a 6 speed automatic with 48 trans tables. Factory shifter is looser than I prefer. Those are the only things I'd change/improve. 3rd gear at 120 comes up really fast.

sounds like you went that fast just for the fun of it haha! I'm also trying not to laugh at the "Factory shifter is looser than I prefer", most people know why :D

Any idea when the next tune day will be? I'm hoping to have headers/catback exhaust/cutout/CAI/throttle body and MAF installed in the next couple weeks and I hear a tune can really wake up an LS1 car.
